Sophia "Louise" Blume – mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and
friend – fought the good fight and finished the course to her heavenly home.  Born
Sophia Louise White in Mississippi on August 6, 1932, passed away on September 22,
2024, in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

She lived a beautiful life during her 92-year journey.  Louise graduated from Linton-
Stockton High School in Indiana in 1950 and immediately married her high school
sweetheart, Lloyd Blume. They moved to South Bend, where their eldest sons, Steve
and Greg, were born. After six years, they moved to Houston for opportunity and
warmer weather.  Soon after, their sons Keith and Brad were born.

Louise dedicated herself to raising four sons while also supporting her husband's
various entrepreneurial ventures (Century Mortgage, Blume Insurance, Lasco
Properties, Blume Builders, Barrett Homes, and Excel Real Estate Services).  She ruled
the household, and her sons knew not to cross her lines or there would be
consequences.  At the same time, Louise created a home where everyone was
welcome, and her sons' friends of all ages would hang out.  Some of those friends
would spend countless hours at her house and viewed her as a second mom. In
addition to being an active Cub Scout den mother, she would cart the boys and their
friends around in her Buick Electra to karate and piano lessons, bowling, Astroworld,
and more.

Louise always placed the kids at the adult table, and she made sure that her sons
learned commitment, responsibility, and the value of money from a young age. All her
sons had savings accounts as early as 5 years old, and some even started working
while in elementary school!  Each son earned enough money to purchase their own car
by age 16. As her sons grew up, Louise opened her home and regularly hosted high
school and college parties, church groups, Young Life, and many other events.  Louise
and Lloyd also welcomed everyone to their lake house for eventful weekends packed
with boating, water skiing, volleyball, and fishing.

Louise was a woman of faith, having walked with Jesus for many decades. She was
active at Spring Branch Community Church Sunday school and women's ministry. She
even corrected us when we got a Charles Spurgeon quote wrong.
Louise and Lloyd loved to travel in their motorhome, and they visited 49 states and
several countries!  Louise also loved spending time with her 13 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren, but later in life she slowed down her activities as she faced various
health challenges.

Louise is survived by her sons Greg (Dina), Keith (Sheila) and Brad; daughter-in-law
Lori; grandchildren Becky Blume Davis (Jared), Barrett, Heather, Benjamin, Brandon,
Andrea Segura (Cristian), Amanda, Brian, Hannah Rogers (Jared), Joshua, Katelyn
White, and Leigh'Ann Andrews (Jordan); grand dogs Amore, Bella, and Beau; great
grandchildren Will, Luke, Chase, and Ainsley Davis, Tripp Blume, Esteban, Isaac, and
Isaiah Segura Blume; sister-in-law Roma Kay Blume Stark; nephews Jeff Blume (Lori),

Jeff Cox (Sandy), Wade Stark, Tim Turpen, Bill White, Todd White, Tony White (Tammy);
nieces Kimberly Cox, Deidra White Hamilton (Jeff), Tracy White Hamilton (William),
Ingle Hoffer (Kip), Teresa White Newman (Scott), Casey Turpen Niebrugge (Rick),
Debbie Wright Putoff (Randy), Cyndee Turpen Teater (Ken), Anneliese Tomlinson
(Steve), Rhonda Wright Tuttle (Mark); great nephews/nieces Jennifer, Chris (Carrie)
and Connor Blume, Caroline McMillan (Patrick), Cristina Hoffer Spencer (Trent),
Summer & Grant Tomlinson and many, many more.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, son Steve, grandson Brent, son-in-
law Sean Rudolph, her father Leon White and mother Bessie White, brothers Guy and
Leo White and sisters Etta Mae Wright, Shirely Turpen Sowers and Doris White Cox,
brothers-in-law Lowell Blume and his wife Virginia, and Muril Blume and his wife Joan,
and nephews Gary Blume and his wife Sue, and Frank Cox.

The family wishes to thank Louise's caring and compassionate helpers and caregivers
Genet, Betty, Sara, Nunu, Selam, Moji, Mihirat, and Axum – all of whom became her
friends. And special thanks to Genet who became family taking care of Lloyd and then
caring for Louise and managing all the caregivers.
A celebration of Louise's life will be held at BridgePoint Bible Church, 13277 Katy
Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079 on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 am, with a reception
following.
