Celebrating Mom's Life
Maria "Elena" Leon
May 16 – February 8, 2020

Elena never told her kids how old she was. If asked by one of them, she promptly responded, "it is none of your business" or simply changed the topic of conversation. Thus, to respect her memory, she will be remembered as "Forever Young". Elena was born in Bogota, Colombia and came to the United States over 37 years ago. She was a true believer of education for her kids and taught them to write and read before they started school. She was always involved with their academic development and present at graduations to celebrate their accomplishments. She always remembered their birthdays and special occasions and was with them whenever she could to cherish those moments.

In her early career years, she was a caring nurse, but her family was her main priority. As such she became a full-time homemaker to take care of her children and husband. By the way, her children were troublemakers and kept her very busy. Elena enjoyed needling, going to the mall and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Elena was a true and loyal believer of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary and attended church whenever she could. She not only cared for her family but so many people as well. She would be the one who would pick a homeless person or child up on her way home to provide a meal, clothing and shower. She cared for animals like if they were her own children. Elena poured all her heart in keeping the peace amongst her family. Elena was humble and shy at times but a strong woman and fighter through the end of her life. She will always be remembered, treasured and loved by her husband, (Jaime) children (Sandra, Jimmy, Patricia) and grandchildren (Athina, Jessica, Nicolas). Rest in peace Elena and may God be with you through eternity.
