Marilyn Jeanine Newell Stacey was born August 25, 1938 in Mobile, Alabama to Winifred Spurlock Newell and James Borie Newell Sr. After a lengthy illness, surrounded by family, Marilyn peacefully passed away into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 29, 2021.
Marilyn and her husband, Leon, fell in love early in their lives and after her graduation from Murphy High School were married May 10, 1957, spending their lives together the next 64 years. Marilyn worked as a Secretary at Brookley Field Air Force Base in Mobile, was a Home & Family Manager, Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and Physician's Office Manager. After moving to Houston in 1973, Marilyn & Leon, together with their children, became members of Champion Forest Baptist Church. She was active in Ladies & Couples Bible Study as long as she was able. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing games, bowling, cooking, Couples Gourmet Dinner Group, decorating homes for Christmas with the OCV Women's Club and reading.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her father, James B. Newell Sr.; mother, Winifred Spurlock Newell; brother, Harvey Newell; nephews Michael Newell and Lyon Newell. Marilyn is survived by husband, Leon G. Stacey Sr.; daughter, Lisa Stacey Townsend(Derek); son, Leon "Lee" George Stacey Jr.; daughter, Winnie Stacey (Alwazzan); Grandchildren Lauren Alwazzan(Nathaniel Clement); Derek Townsend II(Alexandra); Kaden Alwazzan and Easten Alwazzan; Great-grandchildren Ryker Townsend, Kason Townsend, Dannah Clement, Charlotte Townsend and Zaiyd Clement; brothers, Charles Newell & James B. Newell Jr.(Liliana); nieces and nephews Dan Newell, Winnie Niemi, Chuck Newell, Dawn Everette, Ashley Zanco and many other family members & friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 @ 1 pm at The Tomball Museum Center 510 N. Pine Street, Tomball, Tx 77375. The service will be inside the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Exhibit with a reception to follow.
