Obituary

Martha Devine Graham, formerly of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Born on December 24, 1946, in Providence, Rhode Island, Martha was the daughter of Edward Devine and Gertrude (Duffy) Devine. She was the youngest of seven children, raised in a large, close-knit family that remained central to her life and identity.

She was married for 56 years to her devoted husband, George William Graham, with whom she shared a life filled with love, family, and dedication to others. Together they raised two sons, Robert and Scott. Martha was a loving and proud grandmother to Jeffrey, Camden, and Caroline, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Martha graduated from Rhode Island College, earning both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Elementary Education. She devoted more than 20 years to teaching elementary school in North Kingstown, where she made a lasting impact on generations of students. She found particular joy in teaching kindergarten, nurturing children at the very beginning of their educational journeys.

As the youngest sibling, Martha treasured her relationships with her brothers and sisters and remained deeply connected to the Devine family throughout her life.Outside of her professional career, Martha generously devoted many hours to community service. She cherished time spent with family and friends, and found peace and happiness at the beach, in the outdoors, and through knitting.

Martha Devine Graham will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her dedication to education, her adventurous spirit, and her kind and occasionally feisty nature.

Martha was predeceased by her parents and by her siblings: Mary Jane Devine, Edward “Rick” Devine (wife, Dale), Charles “Charlie” Devine (wife, Barbara), William “Bill” Devine (wife, Kay), Ann Nancy Glidden (husband, Richard), her brother-in-law Joe Murawski, and her son, Scott Graham.

Martha is survived by her husband, George Graham, her sister, Jean Murawski, her son, Robert Graham (wife, Brin) and her grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

A celebration of life will be held this summer in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
