This is my Rescue Story…

On Thursday, July 29th, in the year of our LORD, Nineteen Thirty-Nine, Curtis and Carrie Booten were blessed with the birth of a beautiful daughter, Mavelon. She was the firstborn of four children, raised in Houston, Texas.
Mavelon matriculated at St. Nicolaus Catholic School, E.O. Smith Jr. High, and went on to confer her GED; after which she enrolled in a Vocation School. In 1970 Mavelon went to work for Maxwell House Coffee (In Houston, TX.), in which she functioned for 31 years.
Mavelon was a diligent member of the Maxwell House Coffee staff; working as a lab tech, testing coffee. She enjoyed her work and made many lifetime friendships there. She enjoyed taking care of her children, (Three heartbeats), her mother and traveling.
On Sunday, February 9, 2020, Mavelon translated from this earth realm to her home with her Eternal God and Savior Jesus Christ. Her life and legacy will be everlastingly cherished in the memories of her children, Stephen A. Washington, D.th., S.A. Doris Washington (her sons) and her daughter Rosie, as well as her grandchildren Doris, Stephen, Victor, Sedric, Martricia, and Dazzman. She leaves one sister Bettie Mills, and( Robert Mills, brother in law), a loving niece Kechi' (who was very active in her life), a daughter in law, Tanya ( who loved and cared for her during her last years here on earth) great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.
She will be missed by three very distinct friends Terrell, Ruth, and Mary.
Mavelon was preceded her husband George Edwards, father and mother Curtis and Carrie Booten, brothers Curtis Booten Jr. and Lynn Booten.
Mavelon was a great mentor, and succourer to many, who loved her as a mother, grandmother, and caring and loving friend. She was loved by all!

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Standing In Faith Ministries, 784 Davidson Street, Houston, Texas 77091 at 11:30am until 1:00pm.  The family will receive guest for a viewing and visitation at 10:30am until 11:30am.  Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery with gate time at 2:00pm sharp.
