IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael
Donovan
December 16, 1951 – September 5, 2025
Michael William Donovan, 73, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Albany, New York, passed away on September 5, 2025. Born December 16, 1951, in Albany to Lester "Bud" and Lorraine Donovan, Michael, made a life defined by laughter, kindness, unforgettable warmth of his "larger than life" personality.
Mike graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1970. On July 21, 1973, he married his soulmate, Diane, who he celebrated 52 remarkable years of marriage. They forged a loving partnership filled with joy, support, and a deep devotion to family.
For more than 40 years, Mike was a respected leader in food distribution industry sales and merchandising, most notably with Sysco in Albany and Baltimore, and later at Sysco's Corporate headquarters in Houston. As a Sysco Brand Sales Manager specializing in protein merchandising, Mike earned a reputation as an industry expert who inspired colleagues and customers alike with his legendary humor, captivating storytelling, and contagious passion. He concluded his distinguished career at Cargill, leaving lasting friendships and a positive mark wherever he went.
Mike's world revolved around his family, friends, and beloved "fur babies" Heidi, Tobi, Abigail, and recently deceased Daphne. He was most proud of his five grandchildren and cherished any moment spent watching them play sports. Loyal to his core, he rooted for the Washington Redskins/Commanders for more than 50 years, joking that "the only thing that kept him out of the NFL was talent!"
Mike's community spirit was just as big as his personality: he gave blood regularly, supported animal rescue efforts, and was an organ donor.
He is survived by Diane, his beloved wife of 52 years; sisters Beth Parks and Gerri Razzano; children Shannon Donovan, Michael "Mickey" Donovan, and Jaimie Bostick; five grandchildren Joshua, Christian, Ryan, Cameron, and Jonathan, and many special extended family members.
