Myra Liz Roots was born Jan 17 1952 in Grand Rapids MI but would let any and everybody know she was raised and fully represented Chicago IL. In 1978 she received her CDL from Trainco truck driver program in Chicago. In 1985 she moved to Houston Tx to make a better life for herself, from there she applied for Metro as a bus operator, she went on to work 28 years for them, receiving many employee awards during her time there. In 2013 she retired early from Metro due to vision problems. In 2015 She moved to Gardens at Spring Shadows retirement home, a community in which she loved dearly, this is where she found her church home in the Gardens Community Church. She was an active member in the church volunteering in almost every event they had. She eventually went on to become the secretary of the church and then later promoted to the vice president of the church, which was a position she didn't want at first but later grew to love . She also loved and enjoyed watching, playing and spoiling her four grandchildren every chance she got.
Myra Liz Roots will always be remembered as a genuine loving and joyful giving soul with an almost inappropriate sense of humor. Her colorful personality and contagious smile will never been forgotten. Myra "Liz" Roots we are so glad we had a chance to experience you Rest In Paradises.
She is survived by her two sons Calvin Bonner and Curtis Ikpe ; her brother Bryan Roots her sister Zwazzi Sowo and her four grandchildren Curtis, Corey, Abbey, and Chase Ikpe
