Obituary

Nancy Lou Brown Wilsford passed peacefully on Saturday, October 9 th , 2021, having lived life to the fullest for 80 years on this earth. On November 19th, 1940, Nancy was born in Shawnee, OK, to Zelpha Lee and Alton Earl Brown. Nancy is preceded in death by her two parents and her sister, Earlene Wilson. She leaves behind her three children; Keri Wilsford; Dan Wilsford, wife Nicole; and Tiffin Wilsford, wife Lisa; six grandchildren, Kera Wilsford, Keedra Giraldi, husband David; Kale Wilsford, wife Carli; Tavon Wilsford, Joaneth Wilsford, Gracelyn Wilsford; and one great-grandchild, Redding Giraldi.

Nancy attended Wheeler High School in Wheeler, TX, graduating in 1958. She continued her education, graduating from Corpus Christi State University with her Bachelor of Arts degree and earning her nursing home Administrator License. Nancy's 35-year career brought much joy to her, and she loved nothing more than helping her residents, staff, and their families. Before her career as an administrator, Nancy raised three children and worked full time while attending college. Her passion for helping others started at the Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo, TX, leaving a lasting impression to serve others on her and her children.

Nancy found joy and happiness watching the Houston Astros and Texans, and of course, her OU Sooners. She loved to cook for her family and arguably made the best cornbread dressing in the whole state of Texas. But, her ultimate love was going to the beach. She would drift out past the waves and float in the warm Gulf of Mexico. She and her family spent many days and nights on the beach of Port Aransas, close to her former home of Corpus Christi, TX. It was there that her career as a Nursing Home Administrator flourished at Harborview Care Center, one block from the seawall. At Harborview, she developed lifelong friendships that she cherished up until the end of her life.

The family would like to thank the owners and staff of Six Palms in Manvel, Texas, for showing tremendous love and care for mom in her final year of life when she could no longer live independently.

Nancy's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 27 th , 2021, at 10:00 AM, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church located at 5501 Main St., Houston, TX 77004.  Friends and family are invited to attend reception that will follow. Instead of flowers, her family is asking for donations to be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch… as it was an organization near and dear to Nancy's heart.  Please use Cal Farley Online gift page and indicate the gift is in honor of Nancy Wilsford.
