IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicholas
Chagouris
October 19, 1951 – October 1, 2021
Nicholas Alvin Chagouris (Nick)
AKA: Crabby Daddy
On the eve of Friday, October 1 st , 2021, Nicholas Alvin Chagouris (Nick) of Nick's Seafood (Cross Street Market) in Baltimore, and Crabby Daddy Restaurant/Woodlands Seafood Company (The Woodlands, Texas) was called home to be with his Maker. After many years of battling chronic illnesses, which in recent months worsened and led to a summer spent on home hospice, in the care of his daughter, and ultimatley inpatient hospice, Nick's suffereing finally ended, comfortably. He passed on from this world, hand-in-hand with his eldest child, Olympia Chagouris Ross (Pia).
Nick was quite a character- known for his exceptional artisitc talent in the visual arts, which led to a full scholarship at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), a comedic and witty personality that never ceased to entertain, and a brilliant, near genius mind that inspired and blessed many through entrepaneural business ventures, rich converations, and an abundance of creative writings and poety. Nick loved music- especially the Beatles. He was an avid collector of classic and rare albums, and most assuredly would be found in his Woodlands. TX home jamming out to his favorite tunes, on any given night of the week. Nick was also a wholly dedicated member of AA, who helped many people in their recovery journeys, as a sponsor and dear friend.
Over the years, Nick was an active participant in various AA clubs throughout Houston, to include the Delta Club, for which he played softball, and was an exceptional player, and more recently, Champions Club. Nick was also a member of Warren Lodge No. 51, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, in Cockeysville, Maryland. He will be sorely missed by many close friends, with whom he had deep relationships and connections, from these treasured groups of peers.
Though Nick had many interests, hobbies and passions, His love of his children was one of his most recognized traits; especially for his youngest son, whom he loved more than life itself, Phoenix Woods Chagouris. Nick is also survived by his mother, Jean V. Haines (Nee: Gunther) of Baltimore, MD, his eldest adult child, Olympia (Pia) Chagouris Ross of Baltimore, MD., Nicholas (Nick) McCracken of Charleston, SC., grandchildren: Charles L. Ross IV (Charlie) and Lily McCracken, brothers Louis (Lou) Chagouris and Thomas (Tommy) Chagouris, sister, Melanie Downing. Other survivors include Heather Hyde, mother of Phoenix, with whom Nick lovingly co-parented his youngest child, and several cousins and extended family members, who reside in between Batimore, MD and Houston, TX.
Memorial services / celebration of life arrangements are going to be scheduled for a later date in early 2022, for both Baltimore, MD and Houston TX. Details will be forthcoming.
