Obituary

Owen James Coleman, beloved father, grandfather, and avid outdoorsman, peacefully cast his final line on January 8, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in North Tonawanda, New York, on July 6, 1953 to Joan Catherine Kross and Bill James Coleman, Owen's heart belonged to the wide-open spaces. He found his Texan paradise in 1976, settling in Houston where he raised four daughters.

Owen's life was a symphony of nature's music. The gentle rush of freshwater, the crisp crack of a rifle, the wind whispering through leaves – these were his true anthems. From sunrise to sunset, he could be found casting a line on the nearest lake, hunting game in the Texas wilderness, or simply soaking up the sun's warmth under a clear blue sky.

Owen was a true Texan at heart, where he roared with pride for the Houston Texans, and celebrated every Astros home run. His loyalty extended beyond the playing field, evident in his unwavering dedication to his work as a machinist in the oil fields around the Greater Houston Area. Owen was a man of punctuality and a steadfast work ethic, leaving a legacy of dedication etched in every gear and bolt he touched.

He found comfort in the simple pleasures– a cold Bud Lite on a hot day, the familiar glow of a Marlboro Light 100s Gold, and the outdoors. Owen's love for his family was as vast as the Texas sky, a strength that held them close.

Though Owen's journey on this earth has come to an end, his spirit lives on in Heaven. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. So raise a glass, light a cigarette (but please don't tell Mom!), and cast a line in his honor. Owen James Coleman, gone fishin', leaving behind a love that runs deeper than any lake and a legacy that reaches higher than any mountain peak.

Owen leaves behind a loving family: his wife of 39 years Zadie, his four daughters Chelsea (Andrew) McNeill, Brandy Coleman, Kristi (William) Schaller, Kelly Coleman, grandson Ethan McNeill, granddaughter Adalee Coleman, his family in North Tonawanda, NY including his father Bill Coleman and late mother Joan Coleman, brother Jeffrey (Lyn) Coleman, sisters Jennifer (Clayton) Stickles, Brenda Coleman, Cindy (Robert) Albon, Lori Coleman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many life-long hunting and fishing buddies, including his 50 year best friend Robert (Sandra) Hester.

A celebration of Owen's life will be held on January 28th at Houston Distributing Company (7100 High Life Dr, Houston, TX, 77066) from 2 to 4PM.
