Paul J. Skobel joined the angels on December 31, 2021, in Spring, Texas at the age of 78. He
went peacefully at home, with his loving wife by his side, after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born on February 18, 1943 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania to John and Angeline Skobel.
He attended Shenandoah Catholic High School and received his B.A. in Electrical Engineering at the
University of Delaware in 1970.
Paul was honored to serve his Country and was a proud Veteran. He joined the United States
Army in 1960 at the young age of 17. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the Air Defense
Artillery (Btry A 4th Msl Bn 62nd Arty) as an Air Defense Missile Crewman. He rose to the ranks of
Specialist E-4 and was awarded several service medals, many for marksmanship. He was honorably
discharged in 1966.
Paul had a successful career in the electrical engineering industry for nearly 40 years. He was
the Western Canada and U.S. Regional Sales Electrical Engineer for Siemens, Industrial Division, when
he met the love of his life, Dana. Their infectious love has been unwavering since the moment they met
in 1989. They married on October 9, 1993 and just celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. The love
that they felt for each other was palpable, deep and lasting.
Paul was an honorable and devoted family man with a strong code of ethics, someone people
could count on. He was strong in tradition within his Catholic faith, culture, and family. People trusted
him because he was honest, dependable, kept his word and had a proven record of being unwavering in
who he was. He was traditional and as head of the household he lovingly fulfilled his role as provider and
protector for his family.
He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Angeline Skobel.
He is survived by his wife Dana Skobel; son Michael Skobel and wife Jeane, daughter Nicole
Skobel, daughter Kelly Blake and fiancé James Kirtland, and daughter Kristie Luby and husband
Brandon; grandchildren Lauren Rowe, Ethan Blake, Henry Blake, Jack Blake, Madison Rackley, Ashton
Luby, Sophia Luby, Emma Luby, Joshua Skobel, Ashton Skobel, and Jonathan Skobel; greatgrandchildren Skylar Sudhop, Silas Sudhop, and Stetson Schoonover; and siblings Nina Moroz, Al
Skobel and wife Suzi, Marian Savitsky and husband Ed, and John Skobel and wife Gloria; numerous
cousins, nieces, nephews, and a loving extended family.
Services will include a Catholic Mass at St. Edward Catholic Church followed by a Celebration of
Life with food and fellowship at the Skobel residence. Paul will be cremated and laid to rest in the
Houston National Cemetery in honor of his military service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given in honor of Paul J. Skobel to the American Cancer
Society (cancer.org).
