IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randall Clinton
Sagstetter
June 3, 1949 – February 28, 2021
RANDALL CLINTON SAGSTETTER
Spiritual, charismatic, charming, rugged, kind, funny, smart, a beautiful soul and a true gentleman. Adored by his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. Admired by his sister, extended family and friends, cherished by his wife and respected by all.
He loved the outdoors – singing around the bonfire, tending to his chickens, watching the birds, eagles, and pelicans from his backyard. Enjoyed sunsets and sunrises. Hunting and fishing were his passion. Every day was "Saturday" and he never took for granted his beautiful life.
Randy loved spending time at his Bracketville ranch, the gatherings at Boliver, Surfside and Addie's Place, making football bets, traveling. He was an inspiration, a leader, a rock. The time spent with family and friends was priceless – laughing, taunting one another, and the serious conversations……
When in doubt about something, just ask yourself "what would Randy do"?
This isn't goodbye, we'll see you again!
Randall Clinton Sagstetter was born in Houston June 3, 1949, to parents William and Margaret
Sagstetter. He died February 28, 2021, after battling complications from a stroke.
Randy spent his childhood with his older sister and two younger brothers, in northwest Houston. The family enjoyed three-quarters of an acre in suburban Spring Branch that offered a vegetable garden, fig trees, and a chicken yard (tended by father Bill); a rabbit hutch (tended by brother Brad); and an aviary (tended by brother Leigh). Collie dogs, beagles, parakeets, and numerous cats joined in for barbecues on the patio, horseshoe and croquet games, and lots of visitors. Randy loved the outdoors and hunted frogs and crawfish in the neighborhood. The family frequently spent weekends at the San Leon bay house with grandparents Rose and Fletcher Young as well as Uncle Bob and Aunt Peggy Hunter and cousins Vicki, Cindy, and Kathy--taking part in fishing, crabbing, boat rides, gumbo, scrabble, poker. Randy played baseball and was an accomplished member of the Spring Branch High School debate team. He graduated in 1967.
At the University of Texas, Randy majored in journalism and graduated in 1973. Among his many early jobs was work in marketing for a shopping mall (hiring Santas at Christmas) and a tuxedo company; he eventually became a marketing and contract manager for several oilfield contracting firms. He retired in 2016.
Randy leaves behind Lisa Tykal Sagstetter, his beloved wife of 25 years. He was proud father to Nicole M. Sagstetter and Ryan Caudell (Angela) and is also survived by his sister, Karen R. Sagstetter, and adored grandchildren Angelique, Gabriel, Alyssa, Ava, and Isabella.
