Obituary

In the presence of all her family, MSgt (retired) Renee Evelyn Thompson, departed this life for a new home on the 29th day of February 2020 at the Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, Shenandoah, Texas. She was born on August 25, 1956 to the late Jim D. and Margo Worley.
Renee was born in Lorain, Ohio and was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She then moved to New Jersey, before moving to Texas, where she resided in Spring for the past 20 years. After graduating high school, she joined the US Air Force in December of 1974 at Shaw AFB in South Carolina. She then began to serve her country, becoming active duty for four years and received an Honorable Discharge before serving an additional 28 years in the Airforce reserves. Eight months of which she worked for the Navy.
MSgt Thompson retired in 2019 after working 43 years for DLA Energy Americas she served a vast number of positions which led her to completing a two-year course that resulted in establishing a DLA Tier II supervisor certification. During her time with DLA, she obtained numerous awards based on her outstanding performances. Working hard at Defense Logistics Agency was not the only high light of her life, Renee also was a very involved, long term member of the Go On Girl Texas 1 book club. Being an avid reader her whole life, she very much enjoyed spending time with her fellow book club members while traveling the country and attending numerous National Black Book Clubs Conferences across America.
Surviving relatives left to cherish her memory include; two sisters; Rosemary Turner (Michael) of Greensboro, NC; Rita N. Worley of Spring, TX; brother, James Doughlas Worley of Greensboro, NC; half brother, Thomas Allen Bryson of Sylva; aunt, Dorothy Worley of Sylva, along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will strongly be missed by her beloved niece, Rihanna C. Bratton, whom she spent a lot of time with while attending book clubs, trips, watching their favorite T.V. shows, and having lazy days.

Guest are invited to the celebration of honor of her life on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Houston National Cemetery with gate time of 12:30pm.
