Obituary

Rhonda Douga passed away on April 11, 2021, peacefully in her sleep, at our home. She was my sister and best
friend; I regret taking so long to write this but, despite losing my father and mother already, my sister's passing was
particularly devasting to me. Rhonda was cremated and I expect to have her ashes returned soon and will scatter
them in Galveston Bay. She is survived by myself, several cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and most precious to her-
her nephews Taylor and Jake.
Ron (as I always called her) was a beautiful person; she was funny, loved to go anywhere-trips, restaurants, shopping,
or the local Target store. Every year she'd be asked what she wanted for her birthday or Christmas, and her answer
was always-literally always-shoes or a purse. That was Ron, she never wavered, was very set in her ways,
unabashedly honest, and fiercely protective of her family. She adored cats and dogs and loved horseback riding. But
nothing made her happier than to be with her family and spending time with her very beloved nephews.
Rhonda and I were always very, very close. When growing up our mom made us do everything together-wherever
she went, I went and vice versa. In fact, in 8 th grade my sister had to attend summer school, and to no surprise to me,
my mom made me go also :)
All who knew Ron, knew of her struggles. She was diagnosed with Schizophrenia when she was 25 yrs. old and then
about 12 yrs. later with Huntington Disease. We had always been inseparable before that, but 10 years ago I had her
move in with me so I could look after her. The disease took its toll on her, and she had her quirks, but my boys were
so good with her, and all of their friends were very fond of her, calling her Aunt Ron. We all have our 'Aunt Ron'
stories, and I would love so much for people to share them here on the website.
The Graceful Memorial Chapel, who took care of my sister after she passed, has the most professional, loving and
compassionate group of people I have had the pleasure to meet. I cannot say enough how genuinely kind they have
been to my family through this very difficult time. And just the fact that they created a way for people to share loving
thoughts and communicate virtually through their website, proves my opinion of them.
Lastly, and most importantly, I know that by the grace of Jesus Christ, I have survived this heartbreaking event. And
although selfishly I miss talking to and hugging my sister, I could not be more grateful that My Lord took her out of
the pain she was suffering in this world, and brought her home, to be in His most loving presence for all eternity.
