Rhonda Carroll McDevitt
We are celebrating the life of Rhonda Carroll McDevitt, born on November 5, 1949 in Houston, TX. She was the first-born child of Carroll and Bertie Smith. She was joined less than a year later by her younger brother Vaughn Rick Smith. Rhonda was married in early 1968 to Wesley W. Carroll III. They welcomed their son Ronald Keith Carroll into the world on November 2, 1968. On January 27, 1970 Wesley was killed in action in Vietnam. Rhonda was remarried in 1973 to Gary Scott McDevitt. On September 26, 1978 they welcomed Nathan Scott McDevitt to the family. On January 8, 1982 their daughter Breihn McDevitt Lawrie completed the family.
Rhonda was received into glory on January 16, 2020 after a nearly 3 year battle with Appendiceal Carcinoma. She was preceded in death by her Father Carroll A. Smith, her mother Bertie Smith, her first husband Wesley W. Carroll III, and her second husband Gary Scott McDevitt. She is survived by her 3 children Ronald Carroll, Nathan McDevitt, and Breihn Lawrie and her 6 grandchildren Matthew Carroll, Timothy Carroll, Caleb Carroll, Noah Carroll, Graham McDevitt and Emerson McDevitt.
Rhonda was a loving and dedicated Mother that lived her life for the betterment of her children and then her grandchildren that followed. She was a tenacious fighter who did not ever give up on the family that she loved. She lived her life with an unapologetic love and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. To her very last breath she expressed her love for her children and her unshaken faith in the Lord.
