Sherwyn Derrick Sealey died on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 56. Sherwyn was born in London, England, but moved at 4 years of age with his parents to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The Sealey family moved to Houston when Sherwyn was 13, and he lived in the same house at the time of his death. Sherwyn grew up playing tennis and enjoyed snowboarding and Aikido later in life. His final favorite hobby was growing spicy peppers in his own garden, and he loved spending time in his backyard hammock. Sherwyn was a graduate of Hastings High School in Alief ISD. Professionally, Sherwyn retired in December of 2022 after more than 25 years of service at AT&T, where he was a member and union representative of the Communication Workers of America.

Sherwyn is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Marja Sealey, and their two children: Elyse, 23, and Myles, 21. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Eunice and Kirk Mahoney; father, Mervyn Sealey; uncle, Lyndon Fraser; aunt and uncle, Marva and Gerald Blackwell; aunt and uncle, Bridget and Ray Brinson; uncle, Nolan Sealey; and several cousins living in New York, New Jersey, Germany, and London, England.

A viewing will be held to honor the life of Sherwyn on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., with a funeral service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77004. A reception will be held in the Parlor following the service.
