July 17, 1943 – July 28, 2021
Sidney Corlett George, age 78, died in his home on 7/28/21 from kidney cancer. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Peggy Corlett George and Sidney Dugat George.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Mitchell and sister, Madelaine George Shults, all of Houston.
Sid served in the Army as a Lieutenant and was part of the 23rd Infantry Division in Vietnam. He was wounded on 30 July 1968 by an enemy ambush near Chu Lai, RVN, for which he received a Purple Heart. Additionally, he received the Bronze Service Star Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He earned a BS in physics from the University of Houston. Upon discharge from the military, he continued his education, receiving an MBA from Sam Houston State University. He was also a CPA and worked as an accountant and real estate broker for many years in Houston.
Traveling was his passion and he lived in numerous countries during the latter years of his life, including Afghanistan and Costa Rica. He enjoyed spending time as a Ham Radio operator, playing Chess and researching religions of the world.
