Stan Sord son of God & servant to all
Humble, TX – Stan T. Sord born on November 9, 1951 in El Paso, Texas was the son of William Enoch Sord and Martha Louise (Barnard) Sord. He put off mortality & put on immortality on June 11, 2021 in his loving home.
After graduating high school, Stan spent the next six years serving honorably in the US Navy as a Nuclear Reactor Operator on the USS Swordfish in the Vietnam War era. He studied for five years at University of New Mexico, double majoring in Engineering and Business.
While stationed in Hawaii, he met and married the love of his life, Sherry Sheppard. They celebrated 47 years of marriage this April. He won salesman of the year for multiple companies. He was known in his business career for his leadership which helped to build several small companies into major successes.
He loved to play games. During the years he worked in the games industry, he competed & won many times at national conventions. He was an excellent gardener; he brought things to life. He was a lifelong Cowboys and Astros fan, from their inception. Many years of devotion came to an ecstatic peak in 2017 when he got to witness his beloved Astros win the World Series. He was a dedicated Board Member of South Coast Set Free Ministries and was faithful in service ministering to the homeless in downtown Houston for many years.
Described by his wife as 'the perfect man' because he knew how to bridle his tongue. She also describes Stan as having taught her the love of Christ, because he loved her as Christ loves the Church. Stan had many estimable attributes, and the following is a list from those who knew him: kind, compassionate, loving, devoted, caring, generous, considerate, forgiving, passionate, funny, prayer warrior, intelligent, wise, patient, optimistic, mentor, leader, servant, friend, trustworthy, faithful, integrity, an amazingly strategic mind, peace-maker, greatly affirmed by God, stalwart warrior, steadfast, teacher, persistent, stable, competitive, took no prisoners when playing games………..
He was predeceased by both parents: father - Bill (William) Sord and mother - Martha Sord. Surviving, in addition to his wife Sherry Sord are his son William (Tye) Sord of Humble, Tx; son Jeremy Sord and his fiancé, Laura Shaw, of Lexington, N.C. with boys Noah and Micah; daughter Mikeala Parr and her husband, Brian, of Humble; and daughter Mahala Sord-Schneider and husband, Greg, of Humble; one sister Lou Ann Livingston and her husband Steve, of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Friday June 18th at 6pm in Dayton TX at Eastgate Church, followed by finger foods, sharing and fellowship. Eastgate Church 1707 County Road 611, Dayton, TX 77535.
