Obituary

Tammy Jo (Anderson) Engelbosch, 66, of La Marque passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, from a brief and tough battle against advanced cancer. She passed peacefully in the presence of her sister and brother-in-law, and her mother and stepdad by her side.

Tammy grew up in La Marque, Texas. As a Senior, she graduated La Marque High School in 1977 and was crowned Homecoming Queen. She was very talented and enjoyed playing the saxophone and softball during most of her teen years. She completed one year at Texas State University and then began working full time in various administrative positions including working for her Aunt Clemmie Hatcher at Paige Maritime Agency in La Marque for nine years. She also worked at Phoenix Services in La Porte, and UTMB in Galveston. In March 2009, she began her career at the University of Houston, Houston, Texas as a Financial Assistant II and then HR/Payroll Coordinator II for the Department of Mechanical Engineering until she passed. She had plans to retire in 2026. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed working with the U of H Cougar family (faculty, staff, friends, and students).

In 1985, Tammy was blessed with the birth of her daughter, Tanya Gayle Pless, a beautiful, smart, and saucy girl who generally charmed everyone just like her mom. Tragically, Tanya passed at the very young age of nine, taking a piece of her mom's heart forever with her. Over the years, Tammy had several Pomeranian fur-babies that she rescued and loved. Her most memorable was Calvin, who passed last year. She leaves behind Frankie, a male Pomeranian-mix sweetie, and Shoni, a young male Pomeranian "character", which are being cared for by family. Tammy looked forward to quiet weekends at home with her fur-babies, watching movies, playing video games, family times, etc. She very rarely missed an Astro's game on TV...big fan!

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Mary Ann Doore, and stepdad George Doore, her next younger sister, Dianna (Nanna) Lynn Anderson Fleming, and nieces Christina and Lindsay (husband Nick), her youngest sister, Katherine Ann Anderson Cooper, and brother-in-law, Henry George (H.G.) Cooper, and nephews Hank Jr. (wife Aly), Ryan, and Chance, also step-sisters Marilynn T. Doore and Marianne H. Doore Foster and families, and many other family members and friends whose lives she touched. Tammy is preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Joe Anderson, her daughter Tanya Gayle Pless, and her husband Rick Engelbosch.

Tammy truly appreciated everyone's prayers and concerns during her illness. We are at peace knowing Tammy is with our Lord and Savior and is reunited with her beautiful daughter, Tanya, along with other family members and friends who have passed on.

A ceremony is being planned to celebrate her life with friends and family — information will be shared by her family through FaceBook and other notifications.
