IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tyrone
Woolaston
July 29, 1949 – March 18, 2023
Eulogy for Tyrone George Woolaston Sr.
On July 29, 1949, George Woolaston and Mary-Jane Thomas Perry were blessed with the arrival of a bouncing baby boy named Tyrone George Woolaston Sr. Tyrone was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica in the lovely garden parish of St Ann. As a young man, Tyrone did very well in school, especially in outdoor sporting activities. He was always helpful to his parents and grandparents with chores. Some of his fondest childhood memories were spent celebrating holidays like Christmas and having large family dinners. Discipline was a core value in Tyrone's household growing up. His parents stressed the importance of manners, hard work, and responsibility. These are qualities he passed on to his own children.
At the age of 15, Tyrone moved to Crossroads in Kingston Jamaica where he shared many great memories of his time around his aunts, uncles, cousins, and the always strict disciplinarian Uncle Stanley. Tyrone continued to grow into a respectable young man and was soon blessed with his first 2 children Chris and Maria. Tyrone's determination and focus helped him to make use of all opportunities in his life. This same determination afforded him migration to the United States of America.
Tyrone enjoyed soccer, cricket, watching horse races, and basketball. He became very excited when his favorite team came out victorious. Current affairs by way of the news could not miss Tyrone. He knew everything from New York to New Jersey, from Washington to California, and of course his beautiful island of Jamaica. Tyrone was a pet lover, he spoke often of his beloved goldfish and his bird "Squeaky."
Tyrone worked at United Airlines for 29 years before retiring in a senior leadership position. He lived in New Jersey for most of his professional career. He was blessed with more children, Novelette, Corey, Faith, and Jewreena. They are all adults with families of their own, and they continue to pass on the values and approaches of their dad. Every child and grandchild holds a very special place in Tyrone's heart.
Tyrone, after retirement, moved to Houston Texas. He spent his time in Texas attending Fallbrook Church where he recommitted his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and began spreading love and cheer to everyone he met. During this time he made really close friends who stuck with him in good times and bad times. Tyrone also got to know his grandchildren much better. He often spoke of his favorite granddaughter Aan-Ashley Williams and how he love speaking to her every day.
Tyrone's favorite scripture was Psalms 78 which reads:
78 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord , and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
On March 18 th, 2023, surrounded by family, Tyrone made his transition from this life to eternity. We are all blessed to have known such a unique person. For many decades to come, we will remember his smile, joyful demeanor, and welcoming spirit. We should take this time to remember his two favorite sayings and reflect on how we can be better at each other. If Tyrone were here today, he would remind us that "God does not like ugly" and we must prepare to meet our savior as we are "Once a man and twice and child." Rest in the arms of your savior Jesus Christ until we all meet again. Sleep in victory, our love for you will live on forever.
