Valentin Bychkov, 81, of Vologda, Russia passed peacefully surrounded by family on April 12, 2020 in Sugar Land, Texas. Valentin was born on January 21st 1939 in Minsk in the USSR. He graduated from St. Petersburg Polytechnical University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Valentin went on to serve as an engineer working on the USSR's nuclear submarines at the Zvezdochka Shipyard in the city of Severodvinsk, Russia on the White Sea.
Valentin loved the sea and often vacationed at the Black Sea with his family. He was an avid athlete his entire life and was a member his city's volleyball team which played competitively against other regional cities in Russia. In his later years, he remained active playing ping pong and swimming. At home, Valentin enjoyed playing chess and watching sports on television. Valentin especially enjoyed spending time at his dacha in the Russian countryside where he swam, fished, hiked, and gardened with family.
Valentin is survived by an extended family in both Russia and the United States, and by five grandchildren. At a future date, Valentin's family will transport his remains back to Russia to be buried next to his beloved wife, Alexandra 'Shura' Bychkova who predeceased him in 2019.
