IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vida Buckley
Jacques
October 3, 1931 – March 12, 2022
Vida Louise Buckley Jacques was born in Brooksville, KY on October 3, 1931. She is survived by 2 children, Janine Kaye Jacques and Kyle Thomas Jacques, and her daughter in law Taunya Kaye Jacques.
She graduated from Holmes High School in 1949. Soon after, she heard the Gospel and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. From 1955 to 1958 she served her country as a "WAVE" in the United States Navy. There she met her future husband Thomas Joseph Jacques, also serving in the USN. They were married in 1958 before her discharge from the service.
In 1969, Vida's husband was killed, and she remained a widow for the remaining years of her life. She raised her children with Christian values and always lived out her Godly beliefs to the best of her ability and understanding. During her life she enjoyed crafts, needle point, cooking, antiquing furniture, and was also a professional seamstress. In her children's younger years, she enjoyed camping and fishing with them, as well as attending other sporting and school activities they were involved in. Singing was her passion. She took voice lessons for years, sang in the church choir at nearly every church she ever attended, and blessed many with her beautiful voice.
In her later years, she attended church and Bible studies, and was part of a home group where she enjoyed fellowship with other believers. She also continued her crafts, such as crocheting and needlepoint up until her late 80's. Her favorite day of the year was Christmas, and she never missed an opportunity to dress up for each holiday. She was loved by many and will be missed.
The family invites guests to honor Vida on Wednesday March 23, 2022, at Graceful Memorial Chapel, 3160 Brownie Campbell Road, Houston, TX 77038. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am. A burial service will follow at the Houston National Cemetery at 12:45 pm. The United States Navy and Houston Honor Guard will be presenting the flag, playing Taps and a 21-gun salute. Floral tributes may be delivered to the funeral home on Tuesday March 22.
