Virginia Karen Melchor (Cooke), age 67 of Cypress, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Virginia, known as Ginger by her family and friends was born in Houston, Texas in 1953. Ginger was the eldest of 5 children and is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.
Ginger was quite funny, quirky and non-judgmental. She was someone you could tell anything. She was understanding and compassionate to others, even in her suffering she tried to protect others. Her laugh was contagious, she had a great sense of humor and almost always had a smile on her face. She was extremely artistic and loved to paint when she was younger. She was quite the seamstress, she made her daughters clothes when they were young and carried that gift of sewing throughout her life.
Jacob Scott, her youngest and only son was her passion!
Ginger was a survivor and very strong-willed. She faced many challenges in her life and persevered through them all. Her strength carried her through physical and emotional obstacles, and she surprised many with her resilience.
Ginger loved her coffee and anything with sugar in it! Can you say "sweet tea"? Sugar Ginger!
A recurrent lesson Ginger taught her children was - if you don't ask, you don't know.
Ginger was survived by her husband of 20 years, Jessie Melchor, daughters; Babette Estrada, Sheila Watkins, Tempi Starks, D'Andre O'Malia, husband Todd O'Malia, and son Jacob Scott, grandchildren; Danielle, Gabriella, Britney, Brandon, Kylie, Baily, Demi, John, and Penelope. Also her sister Kathy Cooke.
