William Feidl (1941-2022)
On July 16, 2022, William "Bill" Michael Feidl, passed away at the age of 81 peacefully at his home in Spring, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Negri; the oldest brother, Joseph; his brother, Richard; and the youngest brother, Hal.
The middle of five children, Bill was born on February 1, 1941 in Bristol, Connecticut and lived in Torrington CT till he enlisted in the Air Force in 1958 where he was selected to attend Intelligence Training. He thoroughly enjoyed his time in the service and was able to earn his GED and a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. The Air Force sent him and his family to many exotic locations, including Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines. He served in the Vietnam War and earned many commendations including the Bronze Star. After 21½ years, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (E-8).
After leaving the military, Bill continued working in the intelligence field as a civilian for the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Special Programs. He worked in the Washington D.C. area until his retirement as a GS-14 in August 2000, working on many projects, including the B-2 Bomber program and the F-117A program.
After his second retirement, Bill continued to work on special intelligence programs as a private contractor. When he was not working, Bill loved to travel with his wife, Helen and friends and also enjoyed socializing and playing dominoes with his neighbors in Berkeley's Springs, West Virginia and Torrington, Connecticut. He also enjoyed traveling across the U.S. to spend time with his children and grandchildren, by attending graduations, recitals, award programs, and births. The grandkids will have many memories of him teaching them to play rummy by the CT rules, Wii Bowling, and encouraging them in their studies while prying into their personal life.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Feidl; his son, John Feidl and daughter-in-law, Yaling; his daughter, Denise Feidl-Rowe and son-in-law, Terry, and his daughter, Mary Ann Dawn Miller and son-in-law, Herschel along with his sister, Bonnie Marsh and brother-in-law, Frank. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Sara, Sam, Stephanie, Sadie, Trenton, Tekoa, Zachary, and Tucker, and his three great grandchildren, Aiden, Honor, and Hazel. He will also be missed by numerous other family and friends, including nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for August 13, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Woodlands Community Church 5401 Rush Haven Drive, The Woodlands Texas 77381. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, please make a gift to Houston Parkinson Society or your favorite veteran's support group and if attending the service,
the family is requesting that you wear Bill's favorite color, Blue.
