IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence Hugo
Ramming, Iii
April 22, 1947 – October 10, 2021
Larry Ramming danced with joy at the sight of his precious Savior, Jesus Christ, as he entered
the Kingdom of Heaven on October 10, 2021 at 8:22 pm.
Lawrence Hugo Ramming III was born on April 22, 1947 to Larry and Margaret (Williamson)
Ramming in San Antonio, Texas. Larry attended Robert E. Lee High School, proudly served in
the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Vietnam.
As a young man Larry was blessed to live a full and active "life in the fast lane" as a Golden
Gloves Boxer, proud Marine, and driver of anything fast to satisfy his "need for speed". After
returning to the United States and upon discharge he headed straight to San Francisco to
enjoy life for several years during the summers of love era as a full tilt hippie and all that
offered, which was plenty, and he enjoyed it all.
He returned to Texas and found work in the restaurant and club business. His entrepreneurial
spirit led him to ownership and gradually into finance. Larry founded, bought and sold many
businesses. He lived life as a "deal guy". He was active in real estate, banking, and mortgage
trading. He ultimately settled into his first love, the oil and gas industry, ranging from service
company ownership, up and downstream operations and finally Trading which he enjoyed until
he went on to his reward.
Larry accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior in November of 1980. He was led to
Christ by Pastor John Osteen of Lakewood Church, nurtured and mentored by Brother Don
Riley of Northfield Church, taught and pastored by Dr. Edwin Young of Second Baptist Church
for over 35 years. Along the way Larry was loved and mentored by his father in law, Brother Bill
Tanner, whom he loved dearly and who showed him what a real Christian truly was. Larry was
blessed beyond measure to share his full life with a multitude of loving friends who crossed
every creed and culture representing numerous walks of life.
Larry was gifted with Jeanette and Temple Ramming on November 22, 1986 when they
became a family and they truly did make his life complete. Jeanette always "had his back". She
was and is his absolute love, the picture of a strong Texas woman who made his life full and
blessed. Temple could not have been a greater gift. He is, in every way, the complete pride of
Larry's life.
Larry has been a dedicated outdoors man his entire life and he and Temple have had the
privilege to hunt and fish some beautiful places in the world but their time in Argentina was the
highlight.
He loved his family; they loved and adored him. His deep, resounding voice, the twinkle always
present in his big blue eyes, his dry wit and wonderful sense of intelligent humor can never be
forgotten by those who loved him and were fortunate enough to call him "friend".
Larry's Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway,
Houston, Texas, on November 22, 2021 at 11:00 am.
